What we do

We see kids and their parents in the same family practice. Children's checkups here include a gentle cleaning, an exam, and simple things like sealants and fluoride that keep cavities from starting. The goal is a kid who doesn't dread the dentist, and teeth that stay healthy until the adult ones come in and after.

What a kids' visit looks like

We keep it short, explain each step in words a kid understands, and let them see the tools before we use them. A cleaning, a look at every tooth, and x-rays only when they're actually needed. Parents can stay close. You'll get the same plain explanation we give adults: what's healthy, what to watch, and what, if anything, needs treatment.

Prevention that works

Most cavities in kids are preventable. These are the tools we use most:

  • Sealants: a thin protective coating painted into the grooves of back teeth, where cavities usually start. It can protect those teeth for years.
  • Fluoride: a quick treatment that strengthens enamel.
  • Custom athletic mouthguards, made from a digital scan instead of messy impression putty, for kids who play contact sports.

When a tooth needs treatment

If a cavity does happen, we fill it with tooth-colored material that blends in. If decay reaches the nerve of a baby tooth, pulp therapy (sometimes called a baby tooth root canal) can save the tooth, usually finished with a custom crown. Baby teeth hold space for adult teeth, so keeping them until they're ready to fall out matters.

Both of our dentists see kids. Nitrous oxide sedation is available here too, which can help an anxious child get through a longer visit calmly.

Questions

About children's dentistry

Can my child and I book at the same time?
Often, yes. Tell the front desk you'd like back to back or same time visits and they'll look for the best slot.
What if my child is scared?
Tell us when you book. We'll plan extra time, go slowly, and explain everything first. Nitrous oxide is an option for some kids when a visit is longer or harder.
Do you accept children's insurance?
We're in network with many major dental plans. Call with your child's plan information and we'll check it before the visit. Coverage for children varies by plan.
