What we do

A filling repairs a cavity. A crown covers and protects a tooth that's cracked, badly worn, or too damaged for a filling. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side. All three are made to match your natural teeth, and all three start with you seeing the problem on screen and getting the cost in writing.

Fillings

We use tooth-colored composite, shaded to blend with the tooth around it. The decay is removed, the tooth is cleaned, and the filling is bonded in place and shaped to your bite. Most fillings take one visit. Catching a cavity while it's small keeps the filling small.

Crowns

A crown is a cap that covers the whole visible part of the tooth. It's the right call when a tooth has a large old filling, a crack, heavy wear, or has had a root canal. Ours are usually porcelain, custom shaded to your other teeth, and metal-free crowns are available when appearance matters most.

We take a digital scan of the tooth instead of a putty impression. It's more comfortable and gives the lab a precise model. Because the crown is made by a dental lab, you'll wear a temporary crown in between.

Bridges

A bridge fills a gap with a replacement tooth held by crowns on the neighboring teeth. It's fixed in place, so you don't take it out. When the neighboring teeth are healthy and you'd rather not crown them, an implant-supported bridge is another option. We'll compare both with you, including cost.

Questions

About crowns, fillings and bridges

Crown or filling: how do you decide?
It comes down to how much healthy tooth is left. A filling works when the damage is small enough that the remaining tooth is strong. When a large part of the tooth is gone or cracked, a crown protects it from breaking. We'll show you the x-ray and explain which we'd recommend and why.
Can you replace my old silver fillings?
If an old metal filling is failing or you'd like a more natural look, we can talk about replacing it with tooth-colored material. We'll tell you honestly whether it needs replacing now.
Does insurance cover crowns?
Many plans cover fillings as basic care and crowns as major care, often at around half after the deductible, up to your yearly maximum. Plans vary, so we check yours and put the numbers in writing first.
